Accumulation or Buffer?
Selecting the Right Solution

In heating systems, tank selection is not a detail; it's the key to overall efficiency.

In heating and hot water systems, tanks play a critical role in energy storage and distribution. While Accumulation and Buffer tanks may look similar from the outside, they serve different technical purposes and are integrated into different types of projects.

Accumulation Tank: Managing Domestic Hot Water

Accumulation tanks are primarily used for storing and managing Domestic Hot Water (DHW). Fresh municipal water, heated via solar energy, plate heat exchangers, or other heat sources, is stored in these tanks for daily use.

Buffer Tank: The "Energy Bank" for Heating Systems

Buffer tanks are used to increase the "closed-circuit" water volume of Heat Pump and Boiler (Biomass or Condensing) systems. This water does not flow out of the taps; it circulates within the heating emitters, such as radiators or underfloor heating pipes.

Selection Checklist:

1. Are you heating fresh water for taps/showers?
If yes, your solution is: Caldomax Accumulation Tank.

2. Are you optimizing the efficiency of a heat pump or boiler?
If yes, your solution is: Caldomax Buffer Tank.

Choosing the wrong product can lead to decreased efficiency or higher operational costs. At Caldomax, our technical team is ready to help you determine the most suitable capacity and product type for your specific project needs.
